Northwest Georgia voters will have a chance this weekend to hear directly from Republican candidates hoping to fill the vacant 14th Congressional District seat once held by Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The Polk County Republican Party is hosting a GOP candidate forum Saturday, January 31, at First Baptist Church of Rockmart, located at 311 East Elm Street. Doors will open at 10 a.m., and the forum is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Organizers said seating is limited and advised attendees to arrive early.
The event will be moderated and is intended to introduce voters to the candidates seeking the Republican nomination. Party officials said the forum will include questions submitted by attendees, along with a straw poll to gauge voter preference.
According to organizers, discussion topics may include whether Congress should seek further public release of records related to the Epstein investigation, approaches to addressing the nation’s growing debt, and candidates’ positions on continuing Mike Johnson’s leadership as Speaker of the U.S. House.
All Republican contenders in the race were invited to participate. Those currently expected to attend in person include Colton Moore, Jim Tully, Clayton Fuller, Marty Brown, Star Black, Christian Hurd, Eric Cunningham, and Nicolas Lama, though organizers noted the lineup could change.
The 14th Congressional District seat opened earlier this year after Greene stepped down from office.
