UPDATE: Back-Open  Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down I-24 Westbound in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Tenn. — A multi-vehicle crash has shut down Interstate 24 westbound in Marion County amid dangerous icy road conditions.

The crash occurred near mile marker 161, where all westbound lanes and both shoulders are blocked, according to reports.

 A diversion route is currently in place as emergency crews respond.

Freezing rain has created slick and hazardous conditions throughout the area, especially on elevated roadways.

Motorists are urged to avoid travel if possible, and those already on the road should use extreme caution and follow directions from law enforcement and emergency personnel.
