LOWEST GAS PRICES IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA LEAD STATEWIDE STABILITY AT THE PUMP

Drivers in Dade, Catoosa and Walker counties continue to enjoy some of the most affordable fuel in Georgia, with the **Catoosa-Dade-Walker region reporting the lowest average regular gasoline price in the state at approximately $2.52 per gallon as of Monday — well below the statewide average.

Georgia’s overall average price for a gallon of regular unleaded inched up just one cent this week to $2.66 per gallon, according to the latest AAA report, though daily shifts at local stations remain possible.

That slight increase still leaves drivers paying:

  • 1 cent more than last week

  • 12 cents less than last month

  • 27 cents less than this time last year
    For a typical 15-gallon fill-up, that means a cost of about $39.90.

“With crude oil prices holding steady since the end of 2025 and fewer drivers fueling up, gas prices have stayed on the lower side,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group.

Low National Averages for 2026

The national average price of regular gasoline remains near historic lows at $2.79 per gallon, the lowest level seen in the U.S. since March 2021.

Crude oil markets have been relatively calm despite ongoing global uncertainty, and OPEC+ — the group of major oil exporters — recently signaled it does not plan to boost supply in the first quarter of 2026 amid softer demand.

Regional Fuel Price Snapshot

Across Georgia, metro area gas prices also reflect the broader trend of stable or lower costs:

  • Savannah: $2.73/gallon

  • Atlanta: $2.71/gallon

  • Athens: $2.70/gallon
At the other end of the scale, areas such as Brunswick ($2.57), Valdosta ($2.56) and the Catoosa-Dade-Walker region ($2.52) counted among the least expensive markets in the state.

Electric Vehicle Charging Costs Unchanged

In the evolving energy landscape, electric vehicle drivers saw no change in charging costs this past week — with the national average holding at 38 cents per kilowatt-hour, AAA notes. Drivers planning longer trips can use tools like AAA’s TripTik Travel Planner to estimate charging expenses.

With prices still well below historical highs from recent years, many Georgia motorists are benefiting from significant savings at the pump — but analysts caution that prices can fluctuate quickly with shifts in crude oil, seasonal demand and global market changes.
