Dade County Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at Historic Train Depot
TRENTON, Ga. — Community leaders and residents gathered today to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Dade County Train Depot, marking an important milestone for Dade County and honoring a cherished piece of local history.
Following a careful restoration, the historic depot now stands as a symbol of both Dade County’s past and its future. Once a vital transportation hub, the building has been preserved and repurposed to serve the community, connecting generations while welcoming new opportunities for growth and engagement.
The depot now serves an important role in county government. The building houses the Public Defender’s Office, the Soil and Water Conservation Office, and the Electrical Inspector’s Office, bringing essential public services together under one historic roof.
The ceremony was attended by several local and state leaders, including Don Townsend, Melissa Bradford, Bob Woods, and Mike Cameron. Members of the Historic Preservation Commission — Donna Street, Audrey Clark, and Cindy Ritchie — were also recognized for their leadership, dedication, and support in bringing the project to completion.
Officials expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the restoration and attended the celebration, noting that the depot will serve as a welcoming landmark for both residents and visitors for years to come.
With the ribbon officially cut, Dade County looks ahead to the next chapter for the Train Depot — preserving its history while embracing a vibrant future.
