GSP Seeking Public’s Help to Identify Hit-and-Run Driver in Fatal Nov. 2 Crash on I-24
Georgia State Patrol Troopers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run on I-24 Westbound that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Huntsville man on November 2nd.
According to GSP, troopers responded shortly after 9:00 p.m. to reports of a hit-and-run with injuries on I-24 West near mile marker 2, just across the state line. Upon arrival, investigators learned that the victim, Demetrius Norwood III, had lost the front left tire of his vehicle while traveling west. He stopped in the right lane and began changing the tire when a vehicle pulling a trailer approached from behind, swerved, and struck Norwood.
The driver continued westbound without stopping, fleeing the scene. Norwood was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers continue to analyze evidence and interview potential witnesses, but the identity of the driver and vehicle involved remains unknown.

GSP is urging anyone who may have seen:

A vehicle pulling a trailer traveling westbound on I-24 around 9:00 p.m. on November 2nd,

A vehicle or trailer with recent or unexplained damage, or

Dash-cam footage from the area that night
to come forward.
