TRENTON, GA — The Dade County Health Department will be offering drive-through flu shot clinics this fall at its location, 71 Case Avenue, Suite H-100 in Trenton. Clinics will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays, September 18 and 25, as well as October 9 and 16.
Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling 706-657-4213.
“Roll in for protection and cruise out with peace of mind,” said Nurse Manager Stacy Bradford. “The best way to protect against the flu and its potentially serious complications is with a flu vaccine. The CDC recommends the vaccine for everyone six months and older, and it’s best to get it now or before the end of October.”
This year’s regular flu vaccine is trivalent, protecting against three influenza strains. A high-dose trivalent vaccine, which contains four times more antigen than the standard dose, is recommended for adults age 65 and older.
The flu vaccine is covered at no cost by most health insurance plans. Accepted payment methods include cash, credit or debit cards, Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, Ambetter, BlueCross BlueShield/Anthem, Cigna (non-Medicare plans), and United Healthcare SHBP.
For those without coverage, the out-of-pocket cost is $35 for the regular vaccine and $55 for the high-dose vaccine.
