RISING FAWN, Ga. — An 88-year-old man died in a residential structure fire Wednesday at 99 Byrds Chapel Road, officials said.
Fire crews from New Salem, South Dade Fire, Dade County Station 1, and McLemore Fire arrived to find the home fully involved and ultimately declared a total loss. Firefighters extricated the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No additional details were immediately available.
