Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA, is introducing a new support group for widows in our community — Circle of Hope — with the first meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 19th at 10:00 AM in the funeral home’s cafeteria.
The idea for the group began with Barbara Castleberry, a part-time employee at Moore Funeral Home and a recent widow. Barbara lost her husband in February of this year and quickly learned how overwhelming it can be to navigate the many responsibilities that follow a spouse’s passing. She found herself juggling matters with Social Security, banks, doctors, lawyers for will updates, probate court, the VA, and cemetery arrangements at Lake Hills — all while coping with grief.
“It was an eye-opening experience,” Barbara shared. “There’s so much involved that you don’t realize until you go through it. I thought it would be helpful for widows to have a place where we can share our stories and help each other with tips and advice.”
Circle of Hope will be an informal gathering, offering both fellowship and practical insight. The first meeting will also feature a special treat — Lee Cureton of Culinary Creations Catering has generously offered to cater refreshments for attendees.
In future months, the group hopes to welcome guest speakers from the community to explain resources and services that may be helpful in individual situations.
All widows in the community are invited to attend. There is no cost to participate, and refreshments will be provided.
