DADE COUNTY, GA — A Heat Advisory will be in effect for Dade County from 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, through 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29. The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerous heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees during this time.
The oppressive heat and humidity can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those working or spending extended periods outdoors.
Local officials urge residents to take the following safety precautions:
-
Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
-
Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours and stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible.
-
Wear light, breathable clothing and rest in the shade or indoors when needed.
-
Check on elderly relatives, neighbors, and pets, who are more susceptible to heat stress.
If you experience signs of heat exhaustion—such as headache, dizziness, heavy sweating, or nausea—move to a cooler place immediately and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
Dade County Emergency Management encourages everyone to remain alert and monitor local weather updates throughout the advisory.
