Dade County Emergency Management to Open Community Storm Shelters Today Due to Severe Weather Threat

DADE COUNTY, GA – Saturday, June 7, 2025

The Dade County Emergency Management Agency has announced that community storm shelters will open today at 1:00 PM due to the threat of severe weather this evening and overnight.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Peachtree City and Huntsville, the area is under an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms between 4:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Strong storms, potentially bringing damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and hail, are possible.

Residents who feel unsafe in their homes or mobile homes are encouraged to use the community storm shelters. These shelters are equipped with video and audio monitoring, as well as live weather communications, allowing residents to stay informed while sheltering.

Officials urge everyone to closely monitor local weather updates throughout the evening and have a safety plan in place.

Stay safe, and thank you for taking precautions to protect yourself and your family.
