After more than a decade of providing free access to one of Georgia’s most popular attractions, the Zoo Atlanta Library Pass program will come to an end this summer. The Georgia Public Library Service announced that the program will officially conclude on June 1, 2025, with the last day to check out the Pass being May 31, 2025.
Zoo Atlanta will honor any Library Passes and accompanying vouchers through a grace period ending June 30, 2025, allowing visitors a final opportunity to redeem previously checked-out passes.
The program, which launched in 2011, has enabled thousands of Georgia residents to experience Zoo Atlanta free of charge through their local public libraries. Over the past 14 years, the initiative has been praised for promoting educational family outings and increasing access to cultural and scientific institutions.
Though the Library Pass is being retired, Zoo Atlanta continues to offer a variety of discount and access programs, including free or reduced admission for military personnel, veterans, seniors, Title I schools, and other eligible groups. Information about these ongoing programs can be found at https://zooatlanta.org/tickets.
“We are grateful for our 14-year partnership with Zoo Atlanta and the opportunity to help make wildlife education accessible to communities across Georgia,” said a spokesperson for the Georgia Public Library Service.
As libraries prepare to wind down the program, patrons are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly and take advantage of the remaining availability before the final checkout da
