U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan announced his upcoming resignation yesterday. Buchanan serves as the chief law enforcement officer for the Northern District of Georgia. Buchanan was nominated by President Biden and later confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Buchanan was sworn into office in May of 2022. Buchanan led an office of 250 prosecutors, civil litigators and administrative and support personnel. The Norther District of Georgia includes 46 counties including Walker, Dade and Catoosa. The office enforces federal, civil and criminal laws. It also represents the United States interest in federal courts. Buchanan’s resignation is effective on January 19th.
