Dade County Deputies successfully intercepted a large U-Haul truck transporting a stolen Kubota tractor on Saturday morning.

The action unfolded after a Trenton City Police Department Detective alerted Dade County Deputies that the U-Haul, carrying the stolen tractor, was possibly heading towards Back Valley Rd. The detective had been tipped off by the owner of the stolen tractor, who was closely following the U-Haul.

The stolen tractor had been reported missing from Alabama the previous week, and the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office had already put out an alert for its recovery.

Acting promptly, Dade County Deputies located the U-Haul parked at a residence on Byrds Chapel Dr. Upon confronting the suspect/driver, a confrontation ensued between the Deputies and the suspect. Despite the struggle, the Deputies successfully apprehended the suspect, taking them into custody.

After a search of the U-Haul, the stolen Kubota tractor was found, and it was promptly returned to its rightful owner.

As a result of the incident, the suspect is now facing multiple felony charges and has been remanded to the Dade County Jail.

Sheriff Ray Cross praised the exceptional teamwork among the various agencies involved in resolving the case. “I know I say this a lot here lately, but this is yet another example of multiple agencies working together to get the job done. A huge thanks to the Trenton PD Detective for giving us the heads up on this, and also for him coming out to the scene. Another big thanks to my Deputies for continuing to ensure crime doesn’t go unaddressed in Dade County,” he said.

The successful recovery of the stolen tractor serves as a testament to the efficiency and dedication of law enforcement in safeguarding the community against criminal activities.
