Metallica is heading to the big screen on August 29th. The group will be the first rock band featured in the “Encore Drive-In Nights” series, with the band performing a full concert set to be shown at hundreds of open-air drive-in theaters across North America.

Tickets for “Encore Drive-In Nights” featuring Metallica go on sale on Friday (August 14th) at 12 p.m. local venue time. GA tickets will run $115 per vehicle (up to 6 people).

Every ticket purchase will include four digital downloads of Metallica's S&M2, the long-awaited album documenting the two historic concerts that reunited the band and San Francisco Symphony for the first time in 20 years.

According to the press release for the event:

Shot especially for this one-night-only event, the band's first show of 2020 will go down as one of the most unique and memorable Metallica experiences of all time. The event will also include a special guest performance by Three Days Grace.

Bassist Robert Trujillo told us a while back that he never knows what to expect when the band starts writing: “The whole thing is, when we're being creative, when Metallica's creative, the last thing you want to do is interfere with the flow that happens between Lars and James (Hetfield), 'cause these guys bump heads and they get on a roll with things. And you really gotta let them do their thing, 'cause it is magic, and let them be productive when that's clicking.”
