Metallica has taken to social media to tease their new song, "If Darkness Had A Son." The track, which will officially be released today (March 1st), was debuted as a TikTok video with the band all performing remotely and playing a portion of the tune.

"If Darkness Had A Son" will be featured on the band's upcoming album, 72 Seasons, which drops on April 14th.

Guitarist James Hetfield spoke about Metallica taking full charge of their music and career: ["Y'know, you want it just right and we kind of got the money now to make sure it's right. And in the long run, but it doesn't really matter — if you're happy with the work. And in writing the material: I mean we take huge pride in writing that. We can't just churn out, y'know, 30 songs and pick out the 12 best (laughs) or whatever."] SOUNDCUE (:13 OC: . . . best (laughs) or whatever)
