Set for release on July 28th is At Newport — Joni Mitchell's critically lauded July 24th, 2022 stage comeback at the Newport Folk Festival. For the historic event, Mitchell was joined on stage by Brandi Carlile, Wynonna Judd, Marcus Mumford, Celisse, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius, and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, among others.

The set featured such standards as "Big Yellow Taxi," "A Case Of You," and "Both Sides Now." A highlight of the show featured Mitchell standing and performing a guitar solo during an instrumental version of "Just Like This Train."

The collection, which was produced by Brandi Carlisle, will be available on CD and two-LP black vinyl, with a clear vinyl version of the album available exclusively from Indie Retail and Barnes & Noble.

A while back, Joni Mitchell spoke about her unique and groundbreaking use of guitar tunings to write her songs: ["Y'know, when David Crosby would pick up a guitar that I just touched, and he'd go 'blingggg' — y'know, and he'd go — 'Oh! The Martians have been (laughs) here!' And not having studied music, I reinvented the wheel. So, like, being self-taught, I went, 'Oh, too many of them and it gets uninteresting again.' But then suddenly if you break to a major or minor (chord) it's like a good short story. The character goes through a change. I mean, it truly is a change that's more like what I feel inside."] SOUNDCUE (:24 OC: . . . I feel inside)

Joni Mitchell will next perform on June 10th at "Joni Jam" in Quincy, Washington at The Gorge Amphitheatre.
