The vinyl edition of Greatest Hits also features the band's recent archival release, "Shadow Of Your Love," which peaked at Number Five on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. Originally recorded in December 1986, "Shadow Of Your Love" made its debut on the 2018 box set for  Appetite For Destruction.

Upon its initial release in 2004, Greatest Hits hit Number Three on the Billboard 200 and in 2007 topped the magazine's Catalog Albums chart.

Drummer Matt Sorum, who drummed for G N' R between 1990 and 1997, found that like several of the band's members, leaving the group turned into liberating experience: ["When it stopped being fun I, I just said 'Man, I can’t do this anymore,' so, I left. And, y'know, I took a couple of years off and I started looking at my life and I started, y'know, changing a lot of things — and just basically kind of went off on my own to see if I could do music on my own. I did some movie scores and I put another band together. And I did a lot of stuff to satisfy myself as a musician — not, I mean, to ride on the coattails of Axl Rose, y'know, which wasn’t that fun."] SOUNDCUE (:30 OC. . . which wasn't that fun)
