Ed Sheeran hopes that Elton John takes his #1 spot on the chart.
With “Shivers” in its 15th week in that position, Sheeran posted, “Elton is so close to knocking me off the #1 spot in the U.K. It will be his first #1 in almost twenty years and I really want it to happen.”
He went on to encourage fans to buy “Cold Heart,” Elton’s new song with Dua Lipa and said that 15 weeks was more than he ever expected.
He wrote: “Who doesn't wanna be knocked off by Elton anyway?”
Just last week, Sheeran announced that he and Elton had recorded a Christmas song together that will be released in December.
