David Crosby: Younger Collaborators Extended His Creative Life

David Crosby maintains that working with younger musicians has extended his creative life by a decade. Crosby is receiving raves for his just-released solo set, For Free. Jambase.com reported, during the season two premiere of Crosby’s Freak Flag Flying podcast with longtime friend and best-selling author Steve Silberman, "Croz" explained that working with his key group of collaborators — son James Raymond, Snarky Puppy’s Michael League, Michelle Willis, and Becca Stevens — has been nothing short of a creative fountain of youth.

He explained, "I’ll tell ya what I think, man. When you get to the end of your life, and I’m certainly at the end of my life, you peter out as a writer. I say that because I watched all the writers I know do it. Great writers. Stunning writers. You get to the end and the great moments come less often."

Crosby went on to say, "What these people have done, particularly the young ones, is extend my useful life as a writer probably by 10 years."

David Crosby told us that these days he doesn't enter into any aspect of his life — personally or professionally — without a great deal of soul searching: ["I look at myself a lot, I made an awful amount of mistakes in my life, and I've done harm. And I've had to look at myself. I had a year in a prison cell to look at myself. A lot of time to think. So, I do think about what I do and why and what it means and if it's significant, or not."] SOUNDCUE (:18 OC: . . . significant or not)
