Daryl Hall is hitting the road for a string of solo dates in April with special guest, and fellow Philadelphia native, Todd Rundgren. The pair hit the road on April 1st in Chicago and wrap the mini-tour on April 16th in National Harbor, Maryland. Along the way, the jaunt will make stops at such hallowed venues as Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and Manhattan's Carnegie Hall.
Also on April 1st, Daryl Hall will release his new solo compilation, titled BeforeAfter. The two-disc set spans all five of Hall's solo records from 1980's Sacred Songs to 2011's Laughing Down Crying — with never-released recordings from his Live From Daryl's House web series featuring performances with Rundgren, the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, and blues guitarist Monte Montgomery.
Despite years of success on such major labels as Atlantic, RCA, and Arista; Hall & Oates — both together and apart — view themselves now as indie artists and currently prepping a new album. Daryl Hall admitted he's more than happy to see the music industry slowly implode after years of living high on the hog at the expense of its artists.
He was asked if there's anything positive happening for longtime recording acts: ["No. The only good thing about what's happening in the music business is that it's so bad that it's got to change. That's the one light at the end of a very dark tunnel. It can't go on the way it is — it can't be run the way it's run. It's eventually going to fall apart, and it's already in the process of falling apart. I can't wait for it to happen."] SOUNDCUE (:15 OC: . . . it to happen)
