Men At Work leader Colin Hay has just rolled out a 36-date summer run in support of his upcoming album, Now And The Evermore, due out on March 18th. Hay, who'll be back on tour later this spring with Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band, has enlisted the legendary Beatles drummer for the album's first single and title track.
Hay, who wrote all of Men At Work's greatest hits — including "Who Can It Be Now?," "Down Under," and "Overkill" — kicks off the jaunt on March 18th in Fort Collins, Colorado at The Lincoln Theater and winds the trek down on May 12th in Scottsdale, Arizona at Virginia G. Piper Theater.
Hay explained in the album's announcement: "(The song) 'Now And The Evermore' is a reminder to myself, to make the most of what time I have left walking around on top of the planet. When I listen to it, it transports me back to when I thought I had all the time in the world. It is a song which is unashamedly inspired by the majesty of The Beatles, and the gift they gave us all. Having Ringo Starr play on the track is more than icing on the cake."
Colin Hay, who still performs select dates under the Men At Work moniker, says that there is clearly a difference between his solo gigs and "group" concerts: ["We play between. . . between 1,000 and 10,000 people would come and see our show depending on where it is. So, it's still really quite good. So, that's quite big for me. That's a big tour. My solo tours are smaller, but it's a different kind of show. I tell a lot of stories usually, if I feel like it. I think the audience will like it, and sing songs. That's really my natural game. I'd been doing that since before I was in Men At Work."] SOUNDCUE (:29 OC: . . . Men At Work)
