Bruce Springsteen will address the incoming freshmen students of his son Evan's alma mater, Boston University, on Thursday, September 10th, at 7:00 p.m. ET. "The Boss" was originally set to appear in person before the class of 2024 at B.C.'s First Year Academic Convocation, but due to the pandemic, will be speaking to the students online. Boston College is making a public stream available of Springsteen's address on YouTube.
Backstreets.com reported, "Boston College announced in April that the common reading for incoming freshmen of the Class of 2024 is Springsteen's autobiography, Born to Run. In July the students received a copy of the book, and a detailed reading guide frames how to approach the text both as the story of Springsteen's life as well as inspiration for students 'to reflect on their own story.'"
Bruce Springsteen, who has always reflected on the darker memories of his childhood, explained that dealing with your past is the easiest way to find peace in your present: ["The price for not sorting through the issues that make up your emotional life and the choices you're making doesn't stay the same. It gets higher all the time. It gets higher from the same answers and the tricks and the lies you told yourself at 22 — you feel pretty good: 'I'm just goin' on down the road.' Y'know, 25, 26, 28, — 'feel a little less comfortable — but everything's okay (laughs), y'know?' But the older you get, the price goes up.
