Nellie Jean Joiner, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2025. She was a longtime resident of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and a woman whose life was beautifully centered on faith, family, and quiet service to others.
Born on July 18, 1942, Nellie was the daughter of the late John Henry and Nellie Johnson Wooten. From the very beginning, family was her compass. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a steady friend to many. Taking care of her family was not just something she did; it was who she was. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and welcome, and her love was felt in countless everyday acts of kindness.
Nellie was known as a giving soul, always willing to help anyone in need without hesitation or expectation. Her faith guided her life, and she was a faithful member of Moore Road Holiness Church on Lookout Mountain.
She found great joy in the kitchen, especially when baking desserts for her family. Her love of cooking was matched by her fondness for collecting cookbooks, each one another promise of something sweet to share with the people she loved.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet (Wayne) Franks and Reba (Dale) Knox; her sister, Dorothy Hartline Maxwell; grandchildren, Justin (Meagan) Franks and Dylan (Crystal) Knox; and her great-grandchildren, Airin, Wyatt, Henry, Aiden, Hadley, Bryson, Mason, Maggie, and Natasha.
In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husbands, Airon Dabbs and Aubie Joiner.
A funeral service to honor Nellie’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, Georgia. She will be laid to rest following the service at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, and again on Friday from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
Nellie Jean Joiner leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
