Margie Lanelle Newby, 93, of Wildwood, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Mrs. Newby was born on May 27, 1930 in Dowling Park, FL to the late Milton & Mertie Parker. She was known by many as their “favorite” teacher during her time as an educator with the Dade County School System, having retired following 35 years of service. She was a member of Trenton Church of Christ for more than 70 years where she served as Sunday School teacher and enjoyed cooking and traveling with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newby was preceded in death by her daughter, Marian Newby and brother, Maurice “Taft” Parker.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 74 years, Bill Newby; daughters, Bessie Carolyn Ashe of Trenton, GA, & Jacque (Tommy) Pigage of Hopkinsville, KY; sisters, Martha “Snookie” Pitts, Peggy Tompkins, & Jackie Hill; brother, Milton “Bud” Parker; sisters-in-law, Ginger Parker & Mary Parker; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her son-in-law, Tommy Pigage, & Minister Ron Gilbert officiating. Mrs. Newby will be laid to rest in Brown’s Gap Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, GA.
