February 20, 1962 - February 9, 2025
Katherine Sue "Kathie" West (Neal), 62, returned home to her Heavenly Father on February 9, 2025, in Trenton, Georgia.
Born on February 20, 1962, she was raised in Ooltewah, Tennessee, the only daughter of the late Laverne and Charles Neal, she built a life rooted in dedication and warmth, touching the lives of those around her with her sharp tongue, quick wit, dedication, selflessness, and kindness. A woman of deep faith, Kathie was raised in the Baptist tradition and grew up attending Ooltewah Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, shaping the way she cared for others and approached each day with resilience and grace. Kathie built a long and respected career as an accountant at Marshall Mize Ford for over 25 years, where her diligence and modest nature earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Her sharp mind and unwavering commitment made her an invaluable part of the team.
Beyond her professional life, she found joy in quilting, working jigsaw puzzles, and what she fondly called "loafing" with loved ones—cherishing time spent in good company. Her radiant light and cheeky humor made every gathering brighter, and her presence was a source of comfort and laughter to those around her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold West; and her parents.
She is survived by her brothers, Robert (Kathy) Neal and Jeff Neal; her sons, Jarrod (Kaleigh) West and Justin West; her stepdaughter Jeanna (Tommy) Knox; and her grandchildren Dylan Knox, Christopher Knox, Madelyn Sherrill, Nolan Anderson, AnnaLeigh West, Audrey West, and Wallace West; as well as many other family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
Kathie's presence brought laughter and love to those fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness and unwavering spirit. May the love she shared continue to bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
