Jewell Dean Smith, age 72, of Bryant, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Jewell was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who cherished her family deeply. Known for her kind heart, she was always willing to help others in any way she could. Jewell was a true homebody who found joy in the simple comforts of home—especially sipping coffee and spending time with those she loved. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her children, Angela Welden, Melody (James) Willmon, and Timothy Smith; her loving companion, David Lees; sisters, Nora (David), Linda, and Louise; grandchildren, Cody (Ashley) Smith, Emily (Brandon) McDowell, Olivia Smith, Corey (Ashley) Smith, Tori Howard, and Jessica (Austin Grimes) Smith; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Scottie Smith; her parents, David and Lucille Moore; and her siblings, Wayne Moore, Alice Faye Ariey, and Betty Sue.
A graveside service to honor Jewell’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Central Time (2:00 PM Eastern Time) on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Higdon Cemetery in Higdon, Alabama.
