George Dexter Hulvey, age 67, of Henagar, Alabama, passed away on January 2, 2026, at Highland Medical Center.
George was born on October 29, 1958, in Long Island, Alabama, to the late Jim and Irene Roberts Hulvey. He was the seventh born of ten children and grew up surrounded by a large, close-knit family that shaped the man he would become.
Family was the center of George’s life. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he adored. Outside of family, George enjoyed riding horses and watching Western movies.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, Michael Hulvey; sisters, Shirley Wasson and Donna Garcia; and brothers, William “Buck” Hulvey, James Hulvey, and Bobby Lee Hulvey.
George is survived by his children, Amy Clark and Jason (Kim Hulvey Bell) Hulvey; sisters, Louise “Doodle” Garner, Karen Cooper, and Lucy “Cricket” Spuhler; brother, Benny Hulvey; grandchildren, Shay (Isaac) Hamby, Lily (Daniel) Hulvey, Alyssa (Skyler) Hulvey, and M.J. Hulvey; six great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate George’s life will be held at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Sunday, January 4th at 2:00 CT. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM CT until the start of the service.
