Freddie W. “Poppie” ColeWhiteside, TN

Freddie W. “Poppie” Cole, 77, of Whiteside, TN, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Cole was born on January 21, 1947 to the late Johnnie & Frances Cole in Sumition, AL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a proud member of IAMAW. Freddie served as secretary of the Hale Town Volunteer Fire Department and was retired from the Putnam County School System of Palatka, FL, and Sherman & Reilly of Chattanooga. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne & Larry, and sister, Janice.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edith Sherrill Cole; sons, Eddie (Catherine) Cole, Jeffrey Cole, & James (Susan) Cole; brother, Jimmy Cole; sister, Vicki Hamilton; grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Destiny, Jeremiah, Isiah, India, Malachi, Wesley, Doug, Lacey, Christina, James, Jonathan, & Amber; great-grandchildren, Asher, Maverick, Sutton, Zayden, & Jay.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Donnie Moreland officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, GA.
