Evelyn Smyth Dickerson

Evelyn Smyth Dickerson, 86, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
A native of Wildwood, Georgia, Evelyn lived a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys of home. She was a loving mother and grandmother who took great pride in caring for those she loved. Evelyn found great happiness working in her yard, tending to her flowers and garden, where her nurturing spirit was always on full display. She was well known for her skills in the kitchen and was an excellent cook. Her home was often filled with the comforting aroma of her delicious meals and desserts, which she joyfully shared with family and friends.
Evelyn was a proud graduate and Valedictorian of Dade County High School. She dedicated many years of service to her community, retiring from the State of Tennessee Forestry Department, and also worked for the Social Security Administration.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.O. “Stump” Smyth and Mollie B. Smyth; her brothers, Harold Smyth and Merrill Smyth; and her son, Derek Dickerson.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Kyle Dickerson; her grandson, Evan Kyle Dickerson; her niece, Lori Ann Smyth Papke; her nephew, Greg Smyth; and a host of friends in the Wildwood community.
Evelyn will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Sarah’s Chapel Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at ryanfuneralhome.net.
