Trenton and Dade County Fire and Rescue along with the Trenton City Police Department were dispatch to a vehicle versus train accident at the railroad crossing at South Industrial Drive in the city of Trenton. The call came in to 911 just before 2:00pm. Upon arrival, authorities found the train had struck a Jeep and the driver deceased.
According to reports, the Jeep appeared to have stalled out on the crossing and the driver was unable to exit his vehicle before the train impact. He was subsequently thrown from the vehicle. The man has been identified by the Dade County Coroner’s Office as Ted Wade, 77,of Trenton. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation. There were no other injuries reported.
