Several of the volunteer fire departments in Dade County were kept busy with two structure fires Friday night and into early Saturday morning.
The first fire was called in about 10:30 pm. A fully involved structure fire in the 300 block of Montague Street in the city of Trenton. The structure was a vacant building. Trenton, North Dade, West Brow, New Salem and Davis Volunteer Fire Departments responded.
As the volunteers were headed back to their stations, a second structure fire was reported in the 1700 block of New Home Loop at 12:24 am. The residence was fully involved and there was concern of entrapment at first, but the structure was empty and every one out safe.
South Dade Fire and Rescue, New Home Fire Department, Trenton-Dade County Fire, West Brow Fire & Rescue, Davis Volunteer Fire Department, North Dade Volunteer Fire Department, Catoosa County Fire Department, and Hamilton county rehab unit all responded to the fire. The last unit cleared the scene 6 hours later.
