Today Is Election Day for Special Runoff Races in Dade County
DADE COUNTY — Today is Election Day for the special runoff elections that will decide two key races impacting the region.
Voters will head to the polls to choose a representative for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, as well as a new state senator for District 53.
In the congressional race, Republican Clay Fuller faces Democrat Shawn Harris after neither candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the initial special election.
In the State Senate District 53 race, Republican Lanny Thomas is running against Democrat John Bentley “Jack” Zibluk in another closely watched runoff.
Polls across Dade County are open today from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Election officials remind voters to bring a valid photo ID and to report to their assigned polling location.
The runoff follows early voting, which concluded last week with more than 850 ballots cast in Dade County.
Officials say turnout today will be critical in determining the outcome of both races.
Residents with questions about polling locations or voter requirements are encouraged to contact the Dade County Elections Office.
