Trenton, GA – May 2, 2025 — Severe storms ripped through Dade County on Friday afternoon and evening, hammering the city of Trenton and the surrounding area with large hail, damaging winds, and a barrage of lightning strikes. The powerful system swept in prompting warnings from the National Weather Service and catching many residents by surprise with the intensity of the storm’s impact.
Hailstones as large as golf balls were reported in multiple neighborhoods. Residents described hearing the sudden roar of the storm followed by the sharp, metallic pounding of hail pelting rooftops and cars.
Lightning was particularly fierce during the event, with dozens of strikes lighting up the sky over the course of the storm. Emergency services responded to lightning strike calls at residences.
As of now, there are no reports of injuries, but residents are urged to stay alert and follow safety guidelines during severe weather events. Those who react to calls for help during these types of storms are always much appreciated.
