Trenton, GA — Former Dade County Commissioner and Vice-Chair Robert Goff was honored as the 2025 Alumnus of the Year during Dade County High School’s Class Night ceremony, held Thursday evening.
Goff, a 1969 graduate of DCHS, was recognized for his decades of service and leadership, both in the private sector and in local government. With a 30-year career at UPS and 16 years serving on the Dade County Commission, Goff has long been a respected figure in the community.
In a heartfelt message shared after the event, Goff expressed his gratitude:
“Last night at DCHS Class Night, I was honored and humbled. It is one thing to be remembered after 56 years and even more to be considered. But to be awarded this plaque was one of my fondest moments.”
He continued,
“With 30 years at UPS and 16 years on the Dade County Commission, I have dozens of plaques and certificates. They are all appreciated. But these moments are from a whole other realm… I don’t know who began this process nor do I know the process of being chosen. All I know is that I want to thank all of you who did this.”
The award is part of an annual tradition recognizing outstanding alumni who have made a lasting impact on the community. Goff’s recognition was met with enthusiastic applause from students, faculty, and fellow community members.
The evening served not only to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class, but also to inspire them with the example of a Dade County native who continues to give back.
