Recall Effort Ends in Dade: Petitioner Drops Second Application

TRENTON, Ga. — The recall application targeting Don Townson has come to an end after petitioner Coy Williams Jr. announced in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 9, that he will not continue with a second filing.

The Dade County Board of Elections had rejected the initial application last week for filing errors and lack of notarization. A second application—if pursued—would have needed to be properly completed, notarized, and signed by at least 100 registered voters, after which the matter could move to judicial review before a Superior Court judge. With Williams’ withdrawal, no further steps are expected.
