North Sand Mountain High School has announced the addition of Coach Birchfield to the Lady Bison basketball program, bringing years of playing and coaching experience to the school’s athletic department.
Coach Birchfield is a 2013 graduate of Dade County High School and continued his basketball career at Shorter University, where he played at the collegiate level.
School officials say Birchfield brings a strong coaching background to North Sand Mountain, including four years with the women’s basketball program at Newberry College. He also spent four years coaching both boys and girls basketball at North Murray High School.
North Sand Mountain leaders expressed excitement about the future of the Lady Bison program under Birchfield’s leadership, citing his passion for the game, experience in player development, and commitment to building strong relationships within the community.
“We are excited for the leadership, passion, and experience Coach Birchfield will bring to our Lady Bison basketball program and community,” the school said in its announcement welcoming him to the North Sand Mountain family.
Birchfield now steps into the role as the Lady Bison program looks ahead to the upcoming basketball season.
