North Alabama Unemployment Holding Steady in Jackson and DeKalb Counties
While Georgia celebrates falling unemployment across every region this April, neighboring counties in North Alabama are also maintaining strong job numbers.
According to the Alabama Department of Labor’s most recent data, as of March:
-
Jackson County reported an unemployment rate of 2.5%
-
DeKalb County came in slightly higher at 2.7%
Both counties are below the state average and remain well-positioned in a strengthening regional economy.
Statewide numbers for April have not yet been released, but trends suggest that North Alabama continues to benefit from growth in key sectors like:
-
Manufacturing
-
Warehousing and Logistics
-
Health Care
-
Construction
As Labor Commissioner Fitzgerald Washington recently noted, “Alabama continues to experience record-setting employment levels, and we’re focused on building a workforce ready for tomorrow’s economy.”
