Large Structure Fire Engulfs Historic Frye Mansion on Pope Creek Road in Wildwood

Trenton, GA – Firefighters from multiple departments battled a massive structure fire tonight on Pope Creek Road in Wildwood, Dade County. The fire engulfed the historic Frye Mansion owned by Paul Cummings.

The Trenton-Dade County Fire Department social media page shared that they responded to what officials described as a “very large working structure fire.” Dade County Stations 1 and 4 were the first to arrive at the scene, quickly joined by additional crews from West Brow, Davis, New Home, and South Dade.

Mutual aid was requested and provided by several neighboring departments. Chattanooga Fire responded with a ladder truck, and Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Station 9 also assisted on scene. Additional mutual aid requests were made to Walker County Fire, DeKalb and Jackson Counties in Alabama, as well as McLemore Fire, to help cover other areas of Dade County while crews remained engaged at the fire.

The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire have not yet been released. No injuries have been reported.
