The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and an Officer from the Powell Police Department responded to a welfare check call on Sunday May 14, 2023 around 11:40am, to a home in Section, Alabama. Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Deputies discovered the body of 74-year-old Joe Bob Shaver, Jr. in front of the house with trauma to his head. Byron Heath Shavers age 48 of Section, AL was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail and charged with murder and at this time. No bond has been set. The investigation is ongoing by the Investigations Division of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
