On June 23, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Scottsboro police officers were conducting a checkpoint in the 2100 block of Alabama Highway 79. During the operation, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Rachel Gatlin. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Brandon Evers, of Jackson County.
