TRENTON, Ga. — The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Dade County, as a dangerous winter weather system is expected to impact the area this weekend.

Forecasters say freezing rain and significant ice accumulation are likely, creating hazardous travel conditions and increasing the risk of power outages and downed trees.

Ice accumulations of one-quarter inch or more are possible, especially along higher elevations of Lookout Mountain and throughout the county.

Officials warn that even small amounts of ice can make roads extremely slick, particularly bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads.
