The Democratic primary for Georgia’s Public Service Commission District 3 seat is officially settled. Peter Hubbard defeated Kiesha Sean Waites in Tuesday’s runoff election and will move on to face Republican opposition in November’s General Election.
In Dade County, voter turnout remained low, with just 105 ballots cast. Hubbard won decisively there, receiving nearly 85 percent of the vote.
Statewide, Hubbard secured the nomination with 58 percent of the total vote.
The Public Service Commission regulates utilities across Georgia, including electricity, natural gas, and telecommunications. The District 3 seat is one of five on the commission.
