Fugitive Arrested by Ider Police After Rooftop Escape Attempt

Ider, Alabama – On the evening of June 6, 2025, the Ider Police Department arrested Freddie Bradford after a foot pursuit and rooftop standoff, bringing a fugitive with multiple outstanding warrants into custody.
The arrest occurred as part of an ongoing investigation involving stolen property. When officers first arrived at Bradford’s residence to question him and serve six felony and misdemeanor warrants issued by three separate agencies, Bradford fled the scene on foot.
Later that night, officers received reliable information indicating that Bradford had returned to the property. Additional Ider Police officers responded, surrounding the residence to prevent further escape.
While conducting a thorough search of the premises, officers discovered Bradford attempting to hide on the roof of the two-story home. In an effort to evade capture, he jumped from the roof, but officers quickly apprehended him without further incident.
In addition to Bradford’s arrest, officers recovered a quantity of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia from inside the home. Further charges may be forthcoming pending the results of the investigation.
Chief Malone of the Ider Police Department stated:
“It’s probably not the best idea to mix drugs, eluding police, and jumping off buildings into your weekend routine. If you’re going to act dumb, you better be tough.”
The Ider Police Department continues to coordinate with the other involved agencies as the investigation progresses.
