Fraud Alert: Bank Impersonation Scam Targeting Local Residents

DADE COUNTY, Ga. — Bank of Dade is warning customers about an active bank impersonation scam targeting local residents.

According to the alert, scammers are sending text messages that appear to come from Bank of Dade or its fraud monitoring partner, Shazam. The messages typically ask customers to confirm whether they made a recent purchase.

If a recipient replies “NO,” scammers may then call while pretending to be bank representatives. During the call, they attempt to obtain sensitive card information and may even initiate a fake transaction, asking the victim to approve it.

Bank officials stress that Bank of Dade and Shazam will never ask for:

  • Your full debit or credit card number

  • Your CVV security code

  • Your PIN number

  • One-time passcodes or verification codes

Customers are also reminded never to approve a transaction they did not personally make.

If you receive a suspicious text or phone call, hang up immediately and contact Bank of Dade directly at 706-657-6842.

Bank officials are encouraging residents to share the warning to help protect others in the community from falling victim to the scam.
