Fort Payne Police Department Achieves Prestigious State Accreditation

FORT PAYNE, AL — After nearly two years of diligent preparation and hard work, the Fort Payne Police Department has achieved a major milestone—becoming one of only 14 law enforcement agencies in Alabama to be officially accredited by the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) Accreditation Program.

The department received its certification and award at the recent State Chiefs Conference, marking a significant moment in its ongoing commitment to excellence in law enforcement.

The accreditation certification states that the department has “demonstrated its commitment to police excellence by living up to the progressive standards to ensure that police services are delivered within the community at the highest level of professionalism and integrity.” It further highlights that the department reflects the best professional practices in the areas of police management, administration, operations, and support services.

This distinguished recognition places Fort Payne among a select group of agencies in the state that have proven their dedication to meeting and maintaining the highest standards in modern policing.
