First Day 5K Brings Community Together at Jenkins Park

The First Day 5K welcomed nearly 60 runners and walkers, along with several four-legged participants, to Jenkins Park as the community rang in the New Year with encouragement, fun, and a shared commitment to staying active.
The event was about more than fitness. Participants also helped support local needs by donating bags of pet food, which were distributed to area organizations, and food items that were used to help stock community blessing boxes throughout the region.
The event was proudly hosted by the Trenton-Dade Lion’s Club and Moore Funeral Home, whose support helped make the community-focused event possible.
Organizers also extended special thanks to City Parks & Recreation Commissioner Terry Powell and the City of Trenton for allowing Jenkins Park to serve as the base for the event and for their continued support of community wellness initiatives.
Event leaders expressed appreciation to everyone who took part, noting the positive turnout and strong sense of community spirit. Plans are already underway to continue the First Day 5K tradition in the years ahead, building on the success of this year’s even
