A 19-year-old man from Marshall County has been arrested in connection with the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).
On June 23, 2025, a DCSO investigator was contacted by a deputy regarding a reported sexual assault. The deputy had responded to a call concerning a five-year-old child who was allegedly assaulted in DeKalb County the previous month.
The suspect, identified as Ricardo Nicolas Tomas, was taken into custody and transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center.
Authorities say Tomas later admitted to sexually assaulting the child. He has been charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child Less Than 12, a serious felony under Alabama law.
Tomas is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
