A touching ceremony was held by Commissioner Lamar Lowery and the rest of the Dade County Board of Commissioners at the North Dade Fire & Rescue this Wednesday honoring the late J.C. and Betty Ayers, as well as David Paris.

The Ayers family, represented at the ceremony by their sons Eric and Larry Ayers, dedicated their lives to the North Dade and Wildwood community. J.C. and Betty donated the land that the fire hall and community center stands on; as well as making headway in getting both buildings erected, according to Commissioner Lowery.

David Paris was amongst the first group of citizens who started the North Dade Fire Department, and has been a member of the department for 40 years, Lowery continued.

The Commission passed a resolution weeks ago to dedicate the Fire Hall in honor of Paris. Wednesday, Executive Rumley unveiled the plaque honoring that occasion. Watch the entire ceremony below.
