Dade Mourns the Loss of Another Public Servant: UPDATED WITH ARRANGEMENTS

Only a few weeks after the funeral of a former Dade County Sheriff, Dade County has lost another long-time public servant – Doug Anderton.

Anderton served the county through the Dade Water and Sewer Authority for forty-nine years as of his retirement last year. When he retired as Director of the Water and Sewer Authority, Anderton had overseen the the water company through a vast number of expansion and improvement projects. During his time with Dade Water and Sewer Authority, Anderton also served as a President of the Georgia Rural Water Association and as an Executive Board Member with the National Rural Water Association.

Additionally, Anderton served in the county as a member of the Board of Directors for Citizen’s Bank and Trust, as Chairman of Dade Industrial Development Authority, and as a founding board member of the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority.
