Dade County saw an increase in unemployment last month, according to the latest data from the Georgia Department of Labor. The county’s jobless rate rose to 3.1% in May, up from 2.7% in April.
The uptick in Dade mirrors a trend across Northwest Georgia, where the regional unemployment rate climbed from 2.9% in April to 3.3% in May.
Nearby counties also saw increases. Walker County’s rate rose from 2.8% to 3.2%, and Catoosa County went from 2.6% to 2.9% over the same period.
Statewide, however, Georgia’s unemployment rate improved slightly, ticking down from 3.6% in April to 3.5% in May.
While local jobless numbers remain relatively low, officials say the slight increases are being monitored as part of broader economic trends.
